Dear Bishop Rimbo

On behalf the Board of Directors and the Clinical Pastoral Education Program leaders of Lutheran Services New York Alliance, I am pleased to express our appreciation for the grant award provided through the church-wide grant of the Metropolitan New York Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Receiving this grant provides a wonderful opportunity for the Alliance to place an important focus on the spiritual and pastoral care given on the territory of our synod through the members of LSNYA and to look for new ways in which such care can be extended to the wider community.

To this end, Lutheran Services New York Alliance has secured the services of The Rev. Dr. Serge Castigliano to conduct the Spiritual Care Endeavor and, indeed, has already begun his work in this regard as of March 1. We look to his report that will be given to the Board and the wider community of those extending pastoral and spiritual care in October of this year. We are delighted to have Serge’s services, knowing his experience, depth of knowledge and breath of faith as well as his communication skills.

Please extend our gratitude to the members of the Grant Committee for this award and their trust in our efforts. To you, your family and staff, I extend the blessing of Lenten awakening as we move toward celebrating the great joy of our lives and faith, the joy of Christ’s resurrection.

Sincerely,

John W. Havrilla,
Lutheran Services New York Alliance
Executive Director
