What is “Primaloft”?
It is the name of a high-performance synthetic filling.
Brands that use this material must undergo screening by the provider, and products can only be made through limited business partners.
It began in 1987 when the U.S. military requested a new synthetic material to replace down feathers from a major nonwoven fabric manufacturer.
To cover the down’s weakness to rain, a highly water-repellent material was developed that also offers thermal insulation and texture comparable to natural down, leading to the birth of “Primaloft.”
Its high functionality has been widely adopted by outdoor-focused apparel brands as well as fashion brands.
